Projekt: Der “Kultur- und Initiativenhaus Greifswald e.V.” will einen Ort schaffen, der das Potential hat, in die Region und die Gesellschaft hinein zu wirken. Einen Freiraum für vielfältige Aktivitäten. Einen Ort des Experimentierens und Werbens für soziale und ökologische Zukunftsmodelle. Einen Ort an dem transkulturelle Begegnungen möglich gemacht werden – von Kultur-, Bildungs- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit zu Demokratie, Menschenrechten, Antirassismus bis hin zu solidarischer Ökonomie. Das alles soll in der „Straze“ umgesetzt werden. Das Haus wird ein offener Ort für Menschen sein, die sich aktiv in die Gesellschaft und die regionale Kultur einbringen wollen. In den vergangenen Jahren wurde das Haus als Theater, Stadthalle, Universitätsinstitut, Gesellschafts- und Konzerthaus genutzt. Diesen Sommer helfen die Freiwilligen des IBO mit anderen helfenden Händen das alte Haus zu renovieren.

Arbeit: Abrissarbeiten, Gerüstbau, Malerarbeiten, Zimmermannsarbeiten, Bodenplatten montieren.

Project: The “Kultur- und Initiativenhaus Greifswald e.V.” wants to create a public space with the potential to reach people in the region and have positive influence on the nature of society. A place for experimentation, to test and demonstrate the benefits of more ecological and socially inclusive forms of living and working, a space for cultural and educational activities relating to a range of issues from democracy, human rights, antiracism, and antidiscrimination to solidarity economics. All this will be implemented in the house “Straze”. Over the past years this building was used as a town hall, university institute, concert hall and community center. This summer IBO will help renovate this big old house with a lot of other volunteers.

Work: demolition work, painting work, carpentry work, installing floor tiles
