PROJECT : Benediktus z.s. is a community of people with and without intellectual disabilities, in Chotebor, Czech Republic. The city (9,700 inhabitants) is about 125 km from Prague. Benedict z.s. is a member of the international L´Arche Federation founded in France in 1964. The Ark creates places where people regardless of their origin, religion, culture, disability or ability can have a home and share their gifts with the community. There are now 137 Ark communities in 36 countries on all five continents. To Benedict z.s. include workshops as well as apartments. Concerts, theater and other cultural events are organized. The aim of the organization is to create a community that is not only about common life together, but also about providing social services and secure jobs for people with special needs. In this year’s construction camp, the volunteers will help with various tasks on the organizational site.
WORK : Carpentry, painting and varnishing, gardening and landscaping, general renovation work.
