PROJECT: Kalbe on the river Milde is a small town and a state-recognized resort in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel district. The “Künstlerstadt Kalbe” association, founded here in 2014, wants to remind people of their creative potential. The association is pursuing a sustainable urban and regional development concept, wants to eliminate vacancies, open up prospects of staying, enable people to move in and improve the quality of life for local people. Numerous cultural projects are realized. The association uses various buildings for its work, all of which have to be renovated or deconstructed. A former farm in the middle of the old town will be converted into a cultural farm and a residential center for 20 scholarship holders. During the construction camps, an old stable building will be converted into a meeting room, café and workshop.
