PROJECT: Kraslava is a small town with 9 000 inhabitants in the south-east of Latvia, not far from the Belarusian border. The members of the association volunteer to keep the memory of Shoa alive and to create opportunities for encounters with different religions and cultures. The large Jewish cemetery in Kraslava is currently almost fully covered in vegetation, and is to be made accessible again with the help of the Bauorden volunteers. Together with members of the German association “LOT e. V.” and Latvian volunteers, the Bauorden volunteers will uncover the graves, set up gravestones, make the inscriptions legible again and document the graves.
WORK: Stonemasonry, landscaping, surveying.
