PROJECT: Benediktus z.s. is a living community of people with and without intellectual disabilities, in Rusinov, Czech Republic. Benediktus z.s. is a member of the international federation of L’Arche, founded in France in 1964. L’Arche creates places where people, regardless of their origin, religion, culture, disability and abilities, can have a home and share their gifts with the community. There are now 137 L’Arche communities in 36 countries on all five continents. Benedictus z.s. includes workshops as well as flats. Concerts, theatre and other cultural events are organised. The aim of the organisation is to create a community that is not only about living together, but also about providing social services and secure jobs for people with special needs. At this year’s construction camp, volunteers will help with many different tasks on the organisation’s premises.
WORK: carpentry, painting and varnishing, gardening and landscaping, harvesting and drying fruits, general renovation and assisting with other work.
